Welcome to the second post in my 2020 fall series. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the first one, Fall/Halloween Decor.
Today, I’m sharing 8 ways to cozy up your deck or patio this fall. Temperatures are dropping, which, if you’re anything like me, means more days at home trying to keep warm. There’s nothing like a cozy outdoor space to gather with family or friends, or simply to have some alone time, during the colder months.

Before we get into how to cozy up your deck or patio, if you’re looking to invest in a new deck, consider going natural with Brazilian Wood Depot, a Brazilian hardwood decking, siding, and flooring company located in Atlanta. This company uses 100% real wood that is naturally resistant to rot, decay, and fire and nearly maintenance free. These Brazilian hardwood decks are unique and beautiful because they come in an array of colors and wood species, but most importantly, they are strong, durable, and chemical-free, which I appreciate. For more information about this company, including details on the different types of Brazilian hardwoods, purpleheart decking being one of them, head over to their website.

Now, let’s get into my tips to make your deck or patio your cozy haven this season:
1. Add warm colors
It’s time to move away from your bright and colorful summer palette to one that’s more subdued and earthy for fall. I’m talking, for example, maroons, oranges, and rusts. Warm colors will make your space feel more cozy and really just set the tone for fall.
2. Add an outdoor rug
If you don’t have an outdoor rug already, consider adding one to your sitting area so you and your guests can lounge around in socks or slippers and not have to worry about the cold floor.
3. Add pillows and blankets
What’s an outdoor sitting area without pillows and blankets during the fall? They’re not only cute ways to decorate, but they’re also extremely functional. They’ll come in handy whenever you or your guests are in need of some extra warmth and comfort.

4. Hang string lights or use lanterns
Being that it gets darker earlier in the fall, string lights or lanterns are perfect for extra lighting. They’ll also help add warmth to the space.
5. Add pumpkins
You can’t decorate or cozy up a space for fall without pumpkins – everyone’s favorite fall decor. Pumpkins are great because they’re super cute and a lot of times inexpensive depending on where you get them.
6. Light candles
Nothing says cozy like a good smelling, fall scented candle. Candles are by far my favorite for cozying up any space and making it more of your own.

Here’s a list of fall candles I recommend from Bath & Body Works:
•Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin
•Pumpkin Spice Latte
•Pumpkin Pecan Waffles
•Marshmallow Fireside
•Blueberry Maple Pancakes
•Pumpkin Apple
•Spiced Apple Toddy
•Sugared Pecan Pie
•Toasted Coconut Mocha
•Mahogany Teakwood
As you can see, I love sweet candles, but I do appreciate masculine scents (Mahogany Teakwood) from time to time. If you’re looking for more affordable fall candles, be sure to check Walmart.
7. Add mums
Since temperatures are starting to drop, now is the perfect time to fill your deck or patio with fall’s favorite blooms, mums! Mums make for perfect fall decor because they’re gorgeous, and they come in all the right colors: orange, red, yellow, and even white, but you can also get them in other colors.
8. Add a fire pit
Last but certainly not least, fire pits! Fire pits will provide the ultimate level of comfort and cozy to your patio or deck this fall! There’s nothing like gathering around the fire pit with family and friends, sipping warm drinks and toasting marshmallows.

Those are all of the tips I have for you. I hope you all enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for cozying up your outdoor spaces. If anyone has any additional tips, feel free to comment those down below. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions of other posts I should do for the fall series.
